A Year of Change

Change is coming... The past 14 months has been incredibly life changing with the addition of Liam to our lives. However, new change is coming and I have decided to start writing on my blog again as a way for me to document God's faithfulness in our upcoming life adventure. I know I won't be able to know or even record all the ways that he will provide for us but I'm going to do my best to highlight as much as I can. For those of you reading this blog and wondering what exactly I'm speaking of here's a update... For years (at least 8+) Jonathan has desired to do something different vocationally. He has pursued many possible options only to learn it was not time and the direction was not correct. To make a long story short we were introduced to Bethel Church (Redding, CA) by a wonderful friend. After several months of learning about Bethel (www.ibethel.org) and receiving great food from their teaching and worship Jonathan decided to look into their school of ministry. He applied and was accepted. So we are now in the process of transitioning from NC to CA. We are currently in a season of waiting. Our house is on the market and we have done our homework on moving companies, possible place to live etc. So right now we are praying for patients to wait and the right buyer to come along. This is a huge step of faith for us because as many people we are considered to be very "secure" in the American life. Jonathan has a good job that has health benefits, vacation, 401-K etc. While we have been very thankful for all God has provided we have been left wanting more of him. We believe that if we were to stay where we are we would just be pursuing more of the American life...to have a bigger home, more money, etc. While I'm not trying to knock the American dream life I'm saying that if our "dream" is not to first know God and pursue him with all our hearts what's the point. Seek first the kingdom, and all these things will be given to you. Luke 12:31. I'm excited and a little scared of this adventure. But as I said in the beginning...I'm looking forward to seeing God's faithfulness. It is my goal to document this journey so please keep checking in.

As the title says, this entry is long overdue. We have been very busy since our last entry. As Jonathan would say we are winding down our "east coast tour." We began in May by heading to Georgia for my sister's graduation and mother's day. It was fun to see my family and our some of our closest friends. A few weekends later, we headed up to Maryland for a wedding. Then the following weekend we went to Wilmington, NC for Jonathan's brother's wedding. We had a great time seeing Jonathan's family. We took some time to take Liam to the beach and the pool. He preferred the pool over the beach. After a weekend home, I left with my sister for PA to celebrate my Dad's life. Yesterday, June 20th, we celebrated my Dad's life at the home of Terry and Dot Zimmerman. It was a perfect time with his closest friends and our family. My Uncle John and Aunt Judy drove in from Iowa. It was so wonderful to see them and have my Dad's brother hold Liam, since that was something my Dad never able to do. So here I am on the morning of Father's Day trying to reflect, and in part, digest all that has happened in the past six months. I don't know if I will ever fully digest the loss of my Dad but family and friends have greatly helped to take the sting away and for that I am thankful. I hope you enjoy all our photos.

Spring Family Photos (April 5th)

Azalea Festival Wilmington, NC

This past weekend we took a trip to Wilmington, NC for their annual Azalea Festival. We toured 11 out of 12 gardens. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the beginning of spring. The weather was sunny with a high in the mid to upper 70's.
